Edith M. Sullivan, 90, of Fall River, passed away at Kimwell Healthcare on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 from pneumonia suffered the result of having contracted the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). She was the widow of Michael R. Sullivan, who was a Fall River Police Officer. She was a daughter of the late Richard Wilson and the late Margaret (Devine) Wilson.
She was employed at several local area laundromats for many years and had worked at the former Centre, Empire, and Durfee Theatres. She donated to many charities in order to help those in need. She loved to take rides in the country and enjoyed family get-togethers.
Her survivors include: two daughters, Patricia Ollila (husband Bob) of Tiverton, RI and Kathy Pacheco (husband Jim) of Rockledge, Florida; three grandchildren, Kelly & Ryan Ollila and William Bergevin; five great grandchildren, Madden, Caroline & Grace Ollila, Elsie Raposo, and Olivia Bergevin; and several nieces & nephews. She was also mother of the late Michael & Edward Sullivan; grandmother of the late Edward Sullivan, Jr.; and sister of the late Margaret Burns, Richard & George Wilson.
Due to the COVID pandemic, Edith was laid to rest on Friday, May 8th, with a private committal service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
When the health crisis has abated enough for large gatherings to again take place, Edith's family is planning to arrange for the offering of a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, to which extended family, friends and the public will be invited – and details will be announced here.
Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. Being unable to do so, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Edith's memory to: Greater Fall River Food Pantry, 235 Nashua St, Fall River, MA 02721
