Obituary

Edmond Travassos, 88, also known as "Palooka" and "Mr. T", of Fall River, husband of Barbara (Santos) Travassos, died peacefully on Monday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph and Antonia (da Cambra) Travassos. Edmond worked for the VA Brockton Hospital as chief of medical supplies for many years before retiring in 1985. He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He loved to travel and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Edmond enjoyed attending many special Olympic Games and Marine/Navy reunions throughout the country. He also was a member of the China Marine Association and Marine Corps League. Besides his wife of 63 years, he is survived a son, Wayne Travassos (wife-Teauila) of Chicopee, MA, 2 daughters, Susan Kelly (husband-Bob) and Christine Deslauriers (husband-Raymond) both of Fall River; a brother, James Travassos (late wife-Beatrice) of Fall River; a sister, Olive Cote (husband-Charles) of Tiverton; 8 grandchildren, Christopher Travassos, Julia Turner, Alex Travassos, Heather Smith, Evalani Manumaleuna, Sneaker Landry, Eric Kelly and Amy Deslauriers; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph and Henry Travassos, Georgianna Silvia, Mary Lopes, Alma Lopes, and Elvira Lecko and grandfather of the late Tofi Travassos. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 15th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal with Military Honors at Notre Dame Cemetery.
