Edmundo B. Raposo, 74, of Somerset, passed away Wednesday September 14, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Alcina A (Sousa) Raposo, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. Mr. Raposo was born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Acores, a son of the late Mariano and the late Maria (Botelho) Raposo. Edmundo was also the husband of the late Maria Luisa (Pacheco) Raposo with whom he shared 25 years of marriage as well. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children: Debra Lavoie and her husband Ronald of Fall River, Kevin Raposo and his fiancé Angela Lowe of Cape Coral, Florida, Krystal Raposo of Swansea, Valter Armentano Jr. and his wife Fabricia of Marlboro, and Luciano Armentano and his wife Rosa of Fall River. He was the grandfather of Gianni, Aidan, Lucas, Nicole, Gregory, and Layla. Edmundo was the great grandfather of Riley. Mr. Raposo also leaves his sister Hortencia Resendes and her husband Jose of Sao Miguel. He was the uncle of many nieces and nephews. Edmundo was the brother of the late Fatima Moniz and Manuel Raposo. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, September 19th, in St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.

The following was written by Pamela O'Neill, Vice President of Administration at People Incorporated, where Edmundo was most recently employed:
"I just spoke to our entire facilities team, and Tom Riley (from 1040 Eastern Ave - where Eddie worked) this past two days about your dad and your updates. The feelings they shared with me over this during our meetings was quite sobering and while I do not have to even say this, your dad was so respected, loved, and appreciated by our entire team. I was very fortunate to have gotten to know him over this past year and enjoyed more than you will know the presence he contributed to the entire team."

The following was written by Kevin Raposo, but his sentiments are shared by the entire Family:

"On Wednesday, September 14th, 2016 my family and I suffered a great loss. My father, the amazing Edmundo B. Raposo, was called to his eternal home in Heaven. Although we mourn this loss, we are all so lucky to have had this Man bless our lives. Everything he ever did was for his family. He truly was my hero. Everything I know and everything I am is from him. His picture should be in the dictionary next to "Father". He was our provider, protector, teacher, entertainer, our heart and our soul. He will live forever through us and our kin. If I can be half the man he was, I will be better than most. Thank you Dad for everything. Please continue to watch over us. You are loved, respected and missed by so many. We love you so much. We miss you. Say hi to Mom for me. 'Til we meet again old man..."

In his early twenties, Edmundo came to America with his head held high and heart full of hopes and dreams. He built a beautiful family with his first wife, Maria Luisa (Pacheco) Raposo. They had two children together, Debra and Kevin Raposo. After working at a few odds and ends jobs, Eddie comfortably settled into a position at Quaker Fabrics mainly doing textile-related clerical work. For 37 years, he dedicated himself to his job and received several awards. One of his proudest accomplishments was having the opportunity to successfully complete his GED, but this was only the beginning of his journey in continuing his education and bettering himself. He then went on to complete a program at MTTI for Building & Property Trades Technician, though it was quickly noticed that he could have taught the courses himself. In the early nineties, Maria Luisa fell ill and sadly joined the angels in Heaven, which was a great loss to him and his family. Some time later, God chose to bring Alcina (Sousa) Armentano into Edmundo's life and they entered into the sacred union of marriage. Alcina had two children, Luciano & Valter Armentano Jr., from her first marriage. Together, Eddie & Alcina had one child, Krystal Raposo. Although they were a blended family, they loved each other all the same. Edmundo was a hero of life's adventures. He was firm in his guidance and gentle in his love. There was nothing in this world that he would not do for his family. If he encountered a problem, no matter how complicated, he either knew the answer or created a solution. He was an unstoppable force, determined to persevere. Although he seldom said it, he never failed to show his love by way of actions. We have all been blessed to have been a part of his life. He has given us endless memories and stories that we will cherish forevermore. "Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again."
