Eduardo J. Martins, 65, of New Bedford, formerly of Fall River, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose and Maria Isabel (DeSousa) Martins. Prior to his illness, he worked in the local textile industry as a machine operator. An avid Benfica fan, he also played soccer, once scoring four goals in a single game. Eduardo enjoyed his daily neighborhood walks, attending annual Portuguese feasts, and dining out at various Portuguese restaurants. A very kind, considerate man, he was also very generous, especially with his neighbors and anyone  in need. He leaves: his sister, Filomena M. Fernandes (late husband, Manuel) of Connecticut; his brothers, Carlos A. Martins and his wife, Margaret, of Somerset and Joseph M. Martins and his wife, Carmen, of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Steven Martins. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, May 31st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his commital at St. Patrick Cemetery.
