Edward "Ed" Barboza, of Fall River, beloved husband of the late Velma Barboza, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2019 at the age of 87. Ed's professional life was one of service, first as an enlisted soldier in the US Army, then honorably serving as a City of Fall River Police Officer from 1966-1981. Post-retirement, Ed remained actively involved in the daily operations of the family transportation business, "G.R.D. Bus, Co", which was named after his three children, Gary, Rodney, and Debra.

Ed, at his core, was a family man devoted to his late wife, Velma, whom he adored. His family will forever cherish the memories created throughout the years. From annual Disney vacations and holiday celebrations, to casual gatherings, which were rarely solemn, often comedic, but always loving. Ed's adoration for his wife, Velma, remained palpable after her passing in June of 2013. In his words, he would one day, "be with the most beautiful Angel in heaven, whom I have loved from the very first day we met and now forever".

He was the beloved father of Debra Lynn Howarth of Fall River, Gary E. Barboza and his wife, Sandra Lee, of Westport, and Rodney E. Barboza and his wife, Jody, of South Carolina; loving grandfather of William J. Howarth, III, Christopher E. Howarth, Gareth E. Barboza and Samantha L. Barboza; great- grandfather of Kole and Mason Howarth. He leaves his brother, John Barboza of Fall River and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Henry, Frank, Arthur, and Leo Barboza.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal, with military honors rendered by the FRPD, at St. Patrick Cemetery.
