Obituary

Edward "Big Ed" Moniz, Jr., 40, of Fall River died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Beloved son of Edward Moniz of Florida & Judith A. Teves of Fall River. Raised in Swansea, he still holds the Little League title for hitting the most home runs. He graduated from Diman in 1986, and worked as a plumber for Erickson Plumbing in Swansea. He loved hanging with his brother + sister around a fire in the backyard and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings + the Boston Red Sox. Survivors include a step-father Duval Teves, step-mother Mary Elizabeth Moniz, grandmother Clara Rego, brother Gary Moniz, sister, Christi Moniz, step-brother Kevin (wife Catarina) Teves, step-sisters Elizabeth (husband Joshua) Carreiro + Nancy Teves, nephews Andrew, Gary Jr. + Lucas Moniz, nieces Julia + Jocelyn Moniz, his german shepherd, Josie and several aunts, uncles + cousins. Also grandson of the late August & Cecilia Moniz and Victor Rego, and nephew of the late Richard Rego. Funeral was held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 in Holy Trinity Parish Church, officiated by Father Andre Patenaude, M.S. The funeral procession was escorted by Keith Lowery and Eric Liebl and the pallbearers were Steve Puccio, Jeremy Puccio, Marcus Belanger, Stephen Rego, Jonathan Rego and Richard Rego. The church readings were read by Joshua Carreiro and Paula Belanger, eulogies were given by Shirley Puccio and Nancy Teves and Catarina Teves was the liturgical singer. Interment was in Notre Dame Cemetery.
