Edward T. O'Grodnik, 85, of Somerset, husband of Deolinda "Lee" (Cabral) O'Grodnik, died of cancer related causes on Saturday, May 28th at Clifton Rehab Center. Born in Fall River 12/18/25, son of the late Andrew & Valeria (Gosciminski) O'Grodnik, he attended BMC Durfee and Diman Regional Voc. Tech. High Schools before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served active duty in Guam during Pacific Operations and received the World War II Victory, American Theater, Asiatic-Pacific, & Good Conduct Medals prior to his Honorable Discharge in February of 1946. He returned to Fall River, was married 10/5/46, and moved to Somerset in 1953. He worked as a Clerk at the Davis Screen Plant and then as a Purchasing Agent for Frito Lay, both formerly of Fall River. He later worked for the Somerset School Department as part of the Maintenance Staff until his retirement in 1990. He had also served as a Somerset Little League umpire for many years. Besides his wife, of 64 years, he leaves: a daughter, Susan C. Silvia (husband John Jr., Esq.); 3 grandchildren, John R. Silvia, J.D. (wife Melissa, Ph.D.), Dr. James E. Silvia (wife Lindsey) & Justin A. Silvia (wife Erin); 5 great grandchildren, John R. Jr., Madison E., Hadley G., Anderson J., & Carter A. Silvia; 2 sisters, Lillian Sullivan & Madeline O'Grodnik; many nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Helen Brennan & Etta Connors. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 1, in St. Thomas More Church followed by his committal with Military Honors at Notre Dame Cemetery.
