Edward Pereira, 86, formerly of Somerset, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 3rd, 2011, at the home of his beloved sister, Edith Medeiros and godchild (niece) Brenda-Lee (Medeiros) Beaudry (husband-Mark), who all loved and cared for him the past year. He was the loving and devoted husband of Josephine (Miozza) Pereira for 63 years. A freight loader for many years for the former New Haven Railroad out of Fall River, he then worked as an assembler at the former Hanscom Co. in Taunton for several years before his retirement. An Army Air Force veteran of WWII, he served as a Corporal with the 600th Bombardment Squadron in the European Theater. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, 2 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter, another sister, Angelina Souza of Clinton, MD, and many nieces and nephews whom he treasured. He was also brother of the late Gilbert, Arthur, Everett and Manuel Pereira and Mary Perry. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, March 8, in Good Shepherd Parish Church followed by a committal with full military honors at Nathan Slade Cemetery in Somerset.
