Edward Rego Silvia, 91, of Somerset, husband of Eleanor (DeMello) Silvia, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family Saturday, August 2, 2014. Born in, and a lifelong resident of, Somerset, son of the late Joseph & Mary (Rose) Silvia, he was the proprietor of Clearview Farm of Somerset. He had worked for Bridgeman Lumber of Somerset, was a Teamster, and a member of the Fall River Elks. He enjoyed raising rabbits as a hobby. Besides his wife, of 68 years, he leaves: 2 children, Edward L. Silvia (wife Mary-Jane) & Elaine Velozo (husband Henry); a sister, Florence Zagaja; 5 gradchildren, Katie, Jonathan & Amy Velozo, Sarah Nunes and Elizabeth Frary; 2 great grandchildren, Emmett & Ethan; many nieces & nephews. Also brother of the late Mary Roderick, Mildred Rebello, Gertrude Rezendes, Marion, Antone, Thomas, Manuel & Joseph Silvia. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 8, in St Patrick Church followed by his committal at St Patrick Cemetery, Somerset.
