Edwina (Moniz) Roies, 84, of Fall River, formerly of Jefferson St, and formerly of Lawton St, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Southpointe Nursing and Rehab, after a long illness. She had enjoyed 58 years of marriage with the love of her life, John J. Roies, Jr., until his passing in 2013.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph Moniz and the late Jeswina (Medeiros) Moniz, she was a lifelong Fall River resident. Edwina was employed for many years in the local garment industry. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and entertaining; and loved her grandchildren.

Surviving her are: four children, John J. Roies III (husband Patrick Smock) of Providence, Catherine Roies-Medeiros (husband Daniel) of Fall River, Lori Ann Desmarais of Fall River, and Tracy Ann Roies of Fall River; four granddaughters, Ashley Pilotte, twins Jazmin & Jade St. Pierre, and Michaela Desmarais; and several nieces & nephews. She was also a sister of the late Alice Gancarski and Gilbert Moniz; and step-sister of Palmira, Mary, Frank, Manny, and Joseph Moniz.

Her Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 23, during callingh hours in our Fall River Chapel. Private cremation followed.
