Elaine Carvalho, 78, of Fall River, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2009 after a short illness. Widow of Donald Carvalho. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Antonio V. and Mary (Perry) Almeida. She worked as a sewing machine operator for over 50 years at numerous mills in Fall River before retiring in 2003. She was a volunteer grandmother at Word Inc. and also served on the board of the Garments Workers Credit Union. She was mother of Joseph, Robert and Julia Carvalho; sister of Beverly St. Laurent and the late Antone and Augustinho Almeida, Loretta Perry, Dorothy Raposa, Zulmira Durand and Theresa Farias. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John of God Church. Pallbearers James and Tom St. Laurent, Jim Vincent, Tim Perry, Dave Farias and Don Farias brought Elaine to her final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset, MA.
