Elias M. "Louie" Hakeem, 95, of Somerset, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday at Somerset Ridge Nursing Center. Husband of the late Fanny (Furtado) Hakeem. Born in Fall River, son of the late Said and Azeezy (Kalil) Hakeem. A former textile worker in the Fall River area, he relocated to Connecticut where he worked for Marlin Rockwell for 25 years before retiring and moving to Swansea. Known throughout the sporting community as an accomplished fisherman and hunter. Beloved father of Louis E. Hakeem (wife-Nancy A.) of Tiverton and Cynthia Hakeem Ricard (husband-Marc L.) of New Bedford; grandfather of Danielle C. Ricard and Marc L. Ricard, II (companion-Wendy Rose); brother of Philip Hakeem (wife-Sara) of Franklin, TN, Harry Hakeem of Albequerque, NM and the late Lateefie "Lottie" Pedro and Edward Hakeem. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, October 5, in St Anthony of the Desert Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
