Elsie Carreiro, 91, formerly of Clark Lane, Swansea, passed away Friday at Bedford Village Nursing Home in New Bedford. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Xavier) Mello. She was the owner of the former Carreiro's Home Style (formerly Moonlight) Bakery. Elsie also worked at the former Cherry & Webb Store in the Swansea Mall. Beloved mother of Joseph Carreiro (wife-Monica) and Claudia Periera both of PA; grandmother of Christopher, Jonathan and Andrew Carreiro. She also leaves her former husband, Albert P. Carreiro and several nieces and nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, june 5, in St. John of God Church. Following her cremation, her cremains will be buried in her family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery in Somerset.
