Ema M. Lopes, 87, of Fall River, wife of the late Jose B. Lopes, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Brandon Woods Nursing Home in New Bedford following a long illness. Born in Ajuda da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Raposo and the late Eulalia (Correira) Raposo.

Prior to her retirement she was a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. She loved cooking, baking, and sewing. An avid Sporting fan, she also enjoyed watching her Spanish soap operas. But most notably, Ema was a devout Catholic who faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily.

She leaves her sister, Bibiana Barbosa (late husband, Jorge) of Toronto, Canada; her brother, Jose Raposo and his wife, Lilliana, of Dartmouth; two granddaughters, Sarah Benevides and Cassandra Benevides; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Nelia Novo, Sarina Viveiros, and Isaura Andrade.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 28th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
