Obituary

Emanuel J. Medeiros, 81, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria Isabel Medeiros, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at St. Anne's Hospital following a long illness. Born in Fenais da Ajuda, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jacinto Pedro Medeiros and the late Adelaide (Perpetua) Medeiros.

Prior to his retirement he worked in the local landscaping industry for many years. He loved gardening and experimenting with grafting of various fruit trees. He also enjoyed tending to his grapevines, making his own wine, and, in his younger days, farming in the Azores.

He leaves his loving children, Cristina Raposo (late husband, Tony), Elsa Andrade and her husband, Robert, Paula Cormier and her husband, Brian, all of Fall River, Carmen Melo and her husband, Diamantino, of Westport, Emanuel A. Medeiros and his wife, Bethany, of Swansea, and Sandra Medeiros and her long-time companion, Timothy Rosa, of Fall River; his eleven grandchildren, Nicholas Raposo. Patrick Raposo, Roberto Andrade, Sadia Melo, Sydney Melo, Bianca Cormier, Olivia Cormier, Alexus Borges, Cloey Medeiros, Aeva Medeiros, and Christian Medeiros; his brothers, Fernando Medeiros and his wife, Alzira, of Canada and Adelino Medeiros (late wife, Eulalia) of Fall River; his sisters, Carmen Umbelina and her husband, Luis, of Dartmouth, Adelaide Pacheco and her husband, Jose, of Canada, and Gabriela Medeiros of Dartmouth; one sister-in-law, Margaret Medeiros; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria doCarmo, Antonio Medeiros and Carlos Medeiros.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 28th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
