Emilia "Millie" Teixeira, 89, formerly of Plain St., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 9th, 2010 at Southpointe Nursing Center. She was the widow of Arthur A. Teixeira to whom she was married for 60 years. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Jose and Maria de Jesus (Dias-Raposo) Moreira Alves. A member of the ILGWU, she worked for the former A & A Mfg. Co. An active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church, she was a founding member of their Council of Catholic Women, belonged to the "Comunidade de Amor" and the Holy Rosary Society, participated in the portuguese retreats, served on the kitchen committee and volunteered for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Highly skilled in cooking and baking, Millie was well known for her acorean cooking. She compiled a cookbook of her family recipes in 1994, had recipes printed in the Fall River Herald and baked and decorated numerous wedding cakes for family and friends. Millie made baptsmal bibs for the church and was an expert in the art of the crochet afghan. Millie was the beloved mother of Dr. Arthur Teixeira of Gainesville, FL, Dr. Richard L. Teixeira of Lincoln, RI and Elizabeth Teixeira of Portsmouth, RI and sister of Leonel Alves of Taunton and the late Joseph Alves. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, Arthur Alan Teixeira, Scott Christopher Teixeira, Craig St. John, Todd Nicholas Teixeira, Jeffrey Stys Teixeira, Jane Marie Teixeira England, Benjamin Thomas Teixeira, Rebecca Lynn Teixeira, and Johnathan "Jack" Charles Teixeira; 9 great grandchildren, Ashley Teixeira, Meghan Teixeira, Rachel Teixeira, Matthew Teixeira, Griffin England, Gavin England, Graydon England, Grace Teixeira and Cole Teixeira; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her great grandaughter, Lauren Teixeira, who passed in 1993. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 13, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, followed by a committal services at St. Patrick Cemetery.
