Ernestina DeSousa, 95, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel DeSousa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Varzea, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Julio Sousa and the late Maria dos Anjos (Cordeiro) Sousa.

Prior to her retirement, she worked in the local garment industry for many years. She loved cooking, baking, and gardening, especially flowers and house plants. Ernestina also enjoyed her trips with her late husband to Portugal and Canada. But what was most important to her was spending quality time with her loving family.

She leaves: her three children, Odete DeSousa, Lucia DeSousa, and David A. DeSouza, all of Fall River; her grandchildren, Krystal DeSouza and David A. DeSouza, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Alzira Aguiar, Isaura Figueiras, Urbano Sousa, and Eduardo Sousa.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, October 5th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
