Eugene Teixeira, 85, of Boston, passed away peacefully on November 5 ^th , surrounded by his loved ones. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Manuel and Maria Cecilia (Borges) Teixeira. Gene graduated from BMC Durfee High School in Fall River and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree at Boston University in 1955. Following his service to his country in the United States Army, he embarked on his career, serving in several positions culminating as Vice President of Administrative Affairs at Emerson College in Boston. While at Durfee, he developed a passion for swimming and trained to swim the English Channel. Gene continued that passion for fitness, wellbeing and personal achievement by completing six Boston Marathons and one New York Marathon. He was a 50 Year Member of the Union Boat Club in Boston where he enjoyed his daily workouts and built lifelong friends. He leaves his partner of 21 years, Susan Butterfield; his cousin, Lucille Murphy of Tiverton, RI; his former wife, Ann B. Teixeira and close friends, Averil and Joan Laundon of Waterbury, VT.

Following his cremation, a Celebration of His Life was held on Friday, November 22nd, at the Union Club of Boston. His cremains were later buried privately, with military honors, in his family's lot at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
