Eva (Paiva) Furtado of Somerset, wife of the late Charles Furtado, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Clifton Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Liduina (Roderigues) Paiva.

Prior to her retirement she was employed as a Social Worker by the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare (now called Office of Transitional Assistance).

Eva was predeceased by her four brothers and two sisters. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Madeline Paiva, four Godchildren, a niece, and two nephews. She was especially thankful to her loving Godchild, Lena (Ferro) Berard and nephew, Charles Bettencourt, who were always caring and attentive to her needs.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, October 8th, at St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Eva's memory to a charity of one's choice.
