Evangeline (August) Medeiros, 91, of New Bedford, formerly of Tremont St, Fall River, died Friday January 23, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford after a short illness. She was the widow of Manuel Medeiros and, formerly, widow of Frank Rapoza. Born in Fall River, daughter of the late James & Maria (Souza) August, she grew up in Somerset and returned to Fall River in 1948. Employed in the local textile industry for many years, she retired from the former Needlecraft in 1979. Survivors include her caretaker, Nelson Almeida, stepdaughters Carmen Macedo and Inez Furtado, sister Florinda Dillon, several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Joseph, James and David August, Mary Santos, Mabel Souza and Adelina Davol. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her committal service was held at St. Patrick Cemetery.
