Evaristo Barreira Marques, 71, of Grinnell St., passed away Friday after a long illness. Husband of the late Almorina Marques. Born in Remedios Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Agostinho Barreira and Maria Emilia (Arruda) Marques. A retired carpenter, he was also a well-known soccer player for Beira Alta and enjoyed singing and acting. Evaristo was the father of Antone and Everett Marques; grandfather of Brittany, Cory and Brandon; brother of Joaquim, Jose, Joao, Agostinho and Manuel Marques, Libelia Correia and the late Tiberio Marques. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 18, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
