Obituary

Evelina M. DaRosa, 65, of Fall River, wife of Manuel S. DaRosa, passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Massachusetts General Hospital, after an illness. Born in Varzea, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose C. Garcia and the late Luisa M. (Carvalho) Garcia, she emigrated to Fall River in 1975.

A 1978 graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Evelina earned an associate's degree from BCC and went on to work as a bookkeeper at Whaling Mfg for 30 years, then at Millstone Medical for 12 years – retiring in September of 2024 due to illness. She enjoyed gardening, Portuguese soap operas, travelling to Portugal, and especially spending time with family.

Besides her husband, she is survived by: two children, Andrew Gomes (wife Ali) of Tiverton, RI, and Tanya Vandenburgh (husband Nicholas) of Fall River; two stepdaughters, Melissa Rosa and Cassandra DaRosa both of Fall River; five sisters, Eusebia Sousa (Laurenio) of No. Dartmouth, Marilia Furtado (Edward Lake) of Fall River, Suzette DeCastro (Estacio "Stacey") of Seekonk, Dora M. Garcia (Kelley Peters) of Johnston, RI, and Katherine Amorella (Chris) of Harrisville, RI; eight grandchildren, Seth, Logan, Gracie, Zack, Farrah, Maliha, Benjamin, and Oliver; and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, April 24th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
