Obituary

Evelyn (Martin) Rego, age 81, of Westport, widow of Lucien J. Rego, died at home Monday, October 8, 2007, after a long illness. Born and raised in Fall River, daughter of the late Manuel "Scottie" Martin and the late Mary (Machado) Martin, she resided in Westport for the past 47 years. Mrs. Rego was employed as a waitress at White's of Westport and had also worked at the former Korber Hats. A parishioner of St. George's Church, she was also a member of the Pacific Union Congregational Church Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, which included teaching sign language, as well as teaching English to Guatemalans. Evelyn loved animals and children. Survivors include: son, Ron Rego (and his wife Kathy) of Westport; daughters, Joan M. Tripp (and her husband Paul) of Westport, and Lori Ann Rego (and her partner Gilly Souza) of Fall River; brother, Ronald Martin of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Stacie, Amy & Katlyn Rego and Carly & Blake Tripp; several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Rose Cabral and Thomas Martin. Her Funeral Mass was offered on Thursday (10/11) at St. George Church in Westport followed by committal services at Beech Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bruce Gasper, Tyler Tripp, Caleb Tripp, Klaus Nygaard, Ken DeCosta and Peter Driscoll.
