Evelyn D. (Falandys) Sheppard, age 78, of Somerset, passed away at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River on Saturday, March 7, following a brief illness. She was the wife of Joseph W. Sheppard. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Falandys and the late Theresa (Valton) Cabral, formerly Falandys. A resident of Somerset since 1951, she was employed for many years in the garment trade of Fall River at the former Shelburne Shirt Company and was also a travel agent for the former Smart Set Tours of Somerset. Evelyn was a communicant of St. John of God Church in Somerset. She was a member of the former Smart Set Bowling League and enjoyed playing cards with her friends on Friday 'Poker Night'. In addition to her husband, Joseph, surviving family members include her four children, Thomas D. Sheppard of Dartmouth, MA, Carrie L. Tremko of Madison, AL, Susan M. Sheppard of Swansea, MA, and Joseph W. Sheppard of Manchester, NH, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. She was also the sister of the late Thomas Simmons, Edward Falandys and William J. Falandys, Sr. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, from the Silva-Faria Somerset Funeral Home, with a Funeral Mass offered in St. John of God Church on Brayton Avenue in Somerset. Interment was in St Patrick Cemetery, also in Somerset.
