Obituary

Fatima Jesus, loving wife of Joao Jesus, of Somerset left this world and met her Savior Lord Jesus Christ on October 10, 2021 at age 71. She was born to the late Altino Lopes and the late Fernanda (Botelho) Lopes on July 11, 1950 in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores.

Fatima was a masterpiece of love, compassion and strength. Her undoubtable passions were family, church and traveling. The ripple effect of Fatima's love has touched all the generations of her family and many friends as well. Her love for knitting and sewing went beyond herself, to serving her local church for over 21 years by dressing the children for the yearly procession. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers and gardening at her home. Fatima finished her earthly life as a warrior. She overcame all scientific odds with her strong and unending faith. Fatima's battle has been published as a case study in the scientific world to make a difference in the lives of others.

Besides her husband of forty-nine years, she leaves: her loving children, Marco Jesus and his wife, Vickie, of San Jose, California, and Paula Elizardo and her husband, Steven, of Fall River; her five grandchildren, Samantha Elizardo, Amber Elizardo, Sarah Elizardo, Steven Elizardo, and Marvik Jesus; one great-granddaughter, Alana Mayo; her four sisters, Marta Lopes, Auxiliadora Lima, Lucia Achou, of Fall River, and Ana Almeida of Somerset; three brothers, Antonio Lopes of Fall River, Fernando Lopes of Bristol, and Rui Lopes of Vacaville, California; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Carlos Lopes.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 16th, in St. John of God Church followed by her private committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Somerset. In lieu flowers, Fatima asked that you kindly give to these two organizations that were dear to her heart: American Lung Association lung.org or, Greater Fall River Community Food Pantry greaterfrcfoodpantry.org

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. If you were unable to do so, because of this pandemic or any other reason, all are urged to express their sympathy online or by mail. To ensure that said condolences and/or sympathy cards reach the family, please always make sure that submissions online are made directly through the funeral home's website ( www.silvafaria.com ) and not through a third party. Thank you!
