Fernanda J. Soares, 85, of Westport, wife of the late Antonio C. Soares, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Born in Chaves, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Silvino Rodrigues and the late Maria Emelia da Eira (Costa) Rodrigues.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. She loved gardening and traveling back to her homeland in Portugal to visit family. She also enjoyed spending quality time with all of her family, especially her grandchildren. Most notably, Fernanda was a devout Catholic, faithfully attended Mass, and prayed the rosary daily.

She leaves her loving sons, Jose Rodrigues and his wife, Eunice, of Westport, and Armindo Soares and his wife, Bethany, of Dartmouth; her four grandchildren, Samantha Rodrigues, Tiago Rodrigues, Ronan Soares, and Vivienne Soares. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jose Rodrigues, Alfonso Rodrigues, Garevaldo Rodrigues, and Laurentina Rodrigues.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 24th, at Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Fall River.
