Fernando Jorge Amaral, 65, of Fall River, longtime companion of Maria Hargraves, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose De Amaral and the late Maria Gloria (Pereira) Amaral, he emigrated to Fall River in 1973.
He was employed for many years as a mason in the local construction industry. He had a passion for his profession and made it a lifetime career. Fernando also loved soccer, and he enjoyed cheering for his favorite team, Sporting Clube de Portugal. Fernando loved spending time with his family and friends. He always had a joke to tell, and he brought smiles and laughter to any gathering.
Besides his companion, he is survived by: three daughters and two stepchildren, Christine DeTore (husband Michael) of Milford, Stacie Field (husband Douglas) of Burlington, Cheryl Farias of Fall River, Keith Hargraves (companion Apollonia Thomas) of Fall River, and Sarah Daylor (husband Matthew) of Dartmouth; six siblings, Octavio Jose Pereira Amaral of Swansea, Maria Gabriela Batista of Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, Jose Manuel Amaral of Fall River, Ludovina Dias of Fall River, Ana Rodrigues of Fall River, and Victor Paulo Amaral of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Hyde, Lilliana, Gabriella, Dylan, Dahlia, Jessica, and Avery; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 23rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
