Fernando B. DaEstrela, 72, of Fall River, husband of Margarida (Pimentel) passed away on Sunday after a long illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Jose Borges and Emilia Melo (Botelho) DaEstrela. He worked in construction for many years prior to his retirement. Fernando was a very active member of the Madeirence Club where he served as president for several consecutive terms. He also enjoyed making wine and playing dominos. But most important to him was his family and friends. Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Fernando Estrela and his wife Lucy of Dartmouth, Carlos Estrela and Zita Merces and her husband-Elias of Fall River, Elia DeSouza  and her husband Claudecir of Conn., Alda Catojo and her husband Luis of Canada, Elizabeth Hainse and her husband Brian of Florida, and Keryann Estrela and her husband Matthew Allard and Rui Estrela and his wife Donna of Somerset; twenty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Philip, Jose Manuel, and Joao Luis Borges; a sister Olivia Cordeiro; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Marcia Estrela and brother of the late Albert Borges. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 1st, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
