Fernando R. Fernandes, of Fall River, passed away at the age of 78 , Friday, December 20, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maria (Agueda) Fernandes, with whom they shared over 50 years of marriage. He was the son of Manuel Remegeo Fernandes and Margarida Carvalho Reis. In the early 70's, Fernando left his hometown, Ajuda da Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, and settled into Toronto, Canada. Mr. Fernandes, then moved to America in 1988. Fernando was a collector in his Parish, Espirito Santo Church for many years. He was a welder for many years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his son, Joseph Eduardo Fernandes of Fall River; 1 granddaughter, Madeline Quinn Fernandes;  3 sisters, Maria Teresa Silva of Westport, Deolinda Arouja of Dartmouth and Maria Aguiar of Canada. He was the brother of the late Manuel Fernandes. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 27th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
