Filomena R. Araujo, 103, of Somerset, widow of Alberto O. Araujo, passed away on Saturday at Clifton Rehabilitation Center. Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Maria L. (Sousa) Raposo. She worked in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. Filomena enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking, embroidering, traveling, and going out to lunch. But most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She leaves her daughters: Cecilia Pereira (husband-Len) of Assonet and Leonor Percy (husband-Paul) of Stowe, Vermont; a daughter-in-law, Judith Araujo; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Filomena was also the mother of the late Albert Araujo. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care their mother received at Clifton Rehabilitation Center, particularly from Unit West 1. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, July 6th, in St. John of God Church, Somerset, followed by her private committal at St.Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
