Filomena Resendes, 87, of Pine St., passed away on March 15, 2009 after a long illness. Widow of Luiz Resendes. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, she was daughter of the late Teofilo and Maria (Tomas Cabral) Aguiar. She immigrated to this city in 1968 and worked as a presser at the former Priscilla Dress Co. for many years. A parishioner of St Anthony of Padua Church, she was a member of their Holy Rosary Society. She was mother of Mary Jo Ferreira, Clotilde Mota, Leovigilda Leite and Olga Costa; grandmother of Susan Mota, Melinda Costa, Michelle Cordeiro, Jimmy Mota, John Costa, Edmundo Leite and Theresa Viveiros. She also leaves 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Her committal service was held at Notre Dame Cemetery.
