Francisco M. DeMelo, 90, of Fall River, formerly of Somerset, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Sarah S. Brayton Nursing Care Center. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Joao Raposo DeMelo and the late Clotilde (Moniz DaPonte) DeMelo, he emigrated to Fall River in 1980.

Prior to his retirement he was employed in the maintenance department at The Foxboro Company. Always very active, he enjoyed walking and gardening.

He is survived by: a daughter, Alda DeMelo of New Port Richey, FL; five siblings, Joao DeMelo and Antonio DeMelo both of Toronto, Canada, Maria Jose Baptista and Conceicao DaCosta both of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and Clotilde D'isidoro of Shelbourne, Canada; two grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Griffin; several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Antonio DeMelo and Gabriel DeMelo; and a brother of the late Jose DeMelo, Gabriel DeMelo, Maria Rodrigues, Rosa DaCosta, and Dorothy Tavares.

His Funeral Mass celebrated on Tuesday, December 15th, in St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by his private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
