Francisco M. Lopes, 71, of Fall River, husband of Maria (Coroa) Lopes, died Thursday 12/18/14 at home after a long illness. Born in Ribeira Grande, St Michael, Azores, son of the late Manuel & Angelina (Gonsalves) Lopes, he emigrated to Fall River in 1973 and worked for many years in the local textile industry. An avid soccer fan, he was a former member of the Young Nationals, and a longtime member of the Academica Sports Club. He also enjoyed gardening, and was an active parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health. Church. Besides his wife, he leaves: 3 children, Emanuel Lopes (wife Jennifer) of Swansea, Dina Silva (husband Antonio) of Somerset, Francisco Lopes (wife Kerri) of Fall River; 3 siblings, Liduina Vieira, Joaquim & Fatima Lopes all of Fall River; 6 grandchildren, Brandon, Evan, Christian, Ethan, Jillian & Parker; sveral nieces & nephews. He was also brother of the late Elvira Carvalho, Manuel, Maria da Augusta & Maria dos Anjos Lopes. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, December 22, in Good Shepherd Parish Church followed by his committal at St Patrick Cemetery.
