Frank Arnold, age 84, of Somerset, Massachusetts, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center in Somerset. He was the husband of Cora (Dias) Arnold. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Frank Arnold and the late Marie (Blais) Arnold. After residing in Fall River for twenty six years, he moved his young family to Somerset in 1957. He was employed for many years in the textile trade of Fall River at the former Merit Dress Manufacturing Company and the former Rondo Knit Sportswear. Frank was a Civil Defense Volunteer and served in The Army State Guard. He started the first C.B. radio club in Fall River, in 1954 called the Bay State Emergency Radio Club and became a HAM Radio Operator –KIEYL. Frank, along with his friend, Barry Wood, started the first Somerset fishing club in 1972 called the Riverside Fishing Club, which became the Somerset Lodge Fishing Club then later, Somerset Progressive Club Fishing Club. He was a Mason and a member of the Pioneer Lodge in Somerset and, most importantly to him, a Born Again Christian of the church of Jesus Christ. In addition to Cora, his wife of sixty four years, surviving family members include four sons; Frank Arnold of Freetown, MA, Wayne Arnold of Swansea, Michael Arnold, also of Freetown, and David Arnold of Fall River, four daughters; Deborah Branco, Lorraine Lachapelle, Donna Gouveia, and Melissa Coray, all of Somerset, three sisters; Lorraine Bettencourt and Shirley Maynard, both of Fall River, and Alice Arnold of Bristol, Rhode Island. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Frank was also the brother of the late Raymond Arnold and the late Rose Leach. His Funeral Service was held on Thursday, February 5, in Christ Temple United Pentecostal Church, 1198 Fish Road, Tiverton, RI. He was buried in Nathan Slade Cemetery in Somerset.
