Franklin A. Fernandes, 70, of Fall River, fiancé of Christina Maria Pontagarca and former husband of Rosa (Lobo) Fernandes, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025 in the comforts of his home following his battle with cancer. Born in Froufe, Entre Ambos os Rios, Ponte da Barca, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Fernandes and the late Rosa (Antunes) Fernandes.

Prior to his retirement he was owner and operator of the Cinderella Restaurant here in the city. A very hard-worker and phenomenal cook, he also loved gardening, hunting for rabbit, swimming in the ocean, and boating. He enjoyed traveling to such places as Bermuda, Cancun, Las Vegas, the Bahamas, and back to his homeland in Portugal to visit family. Most notably, Franklin was at his happiest in the presence of his family and reminiscing about the many fond memories of his loving mother and father.

He leaves his children, Peter Fernandes and his girlfriend, Ana Maria Pacheco, Christine Fernandes and her husband, John Medeiros, Jenny Correia and her husband, Jasiel F. Correia, II and Mason Fernandes; his step-children, Colyn Melo, Eric Melo, Joshua Melo, and Ashley Melo; his grandchildren, Elsie Medeiros, Evan Medeiros, and Jasiel F. Correia, III; three brothers, Jose Fernandes and his significant other, Lourdes, Manuel Fernandes and his wife, Lucinda, and Serafim Fernandes and his wife, Vidalia, all of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 29th, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
