Frederico Cordeiro, age 83, formerly of Fall River, passed away at the Country Gardens Nursing Home in Swansea, MA, on Saturday, January 3, 2015. He was the husband of the late Alia (Carvalho) Cordeiro. Born on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he was a son of the late Serafim Cordeiro and the late Amelia (Theodor) Cordeiro. A Fall River resident for many years, he was employed as a field hand at Blueview Nurseries in Norton, MA, and Rhode Island Nurseries on Aquidneck Island, until his retirement in 1997. Surviving family members include his two stepsons, Joseph Ferreira of Westport, MA, and Mario Ferreira of Fall River, a sister, Zelia Cunha of Providence, RI, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the stepfather of the late Gilbert Ferreira. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, January 8, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
