Obituary

Genevieve Kirker, 101, wife of the late William Kirker, passed away peacefully at the Jewish Home For The Aged on Monday, October 16, 2017. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Freda (Gantus) Habib. She worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years prior to her retirement. Jenny enjoyed dancing, shopping, and cooking Lebanese cuisine. She was a very impressive dresser for when Jenny walked into a room, a ray of sunshine followed her. Outspoken and strong-willed, she was also a very loving woman. A lifetime member of St. Anthony of the Desert Church, she was past vice-president of the Ladies Guild and a devoted bingo worker. She was also past President of the Lebanon American Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the ILGWU and the Swansea Grange. Genevieve was selected as Miss Senior Sweatheart for Massachusetts in 1984, a title she was most proud of. She leaves: her daughter, Sandra Kirker Howard and husband William of Swansea; her two granddaughters, Jessica Whalen and her husband Brian of Rutland, MA and Melissa Whalen and her husband Kevin of Stow, MA; three grandsons, William, Christopher, and John Howard; four great-grandchildren; her caretakers, Lisa and Paul Houde; dear friends, Diane Coriaty and Cheryl Jones; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Donald William Kirker. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, October 26th, in St. Anthony of the Desert Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
