George H. "Pie" Gingras, Sr., 91, of Somerset, husband of the late Elizabeth E. (Adams) Gingras, died Saturday,June 9, 2012 at Somerset Ridge Rehab Center after a long illness. Born in Fall River, son of the late George H. & Mary E. (Harrington) Gingras, he lived in Somerset most of his life. He worked for the Somerset Highway Dept. for about 15 years, retiring in 1969. A USCG-Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, he served in the Atlantic, Pacific & Mediterranean war zones, and was a member of the VFW Post 8500 of Somerset. A true lover of life, he always had a smile and kept active – enjoying his family, reading, old westerns, and working in his yard. He leaves: 3 daughters, Priscilla Annotti of Somerset, Elizabeth Estrella of Florida, and Geraldine Cozort of No. Carolina; a sister, Veronica Snow of Centerville, MA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also father of the late George H. Gingras, Jr.; and brother of the late Olive Bizier, Ruth Thompson, Mary A., Lawrence E. & Louis Gingras. To celebrate his life, relatives and friends gathered at Silva-Faria Somerset Funeral Home, for a Memorial Service with and Military Honors.
