George Leandro, 90, of Fall River, husband of the late Claire (Lapointe) Leandro, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2022 at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel Leandro and the late Elsie (Vieira) Leandro.
Prior to his retirement he worked in maintenance in the local textile industry for many years. He loved trips to the casino (blackjack was his favorite) and traveling the world. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves his loving children, Lisa M. Massey and her husband, David, of Tiverton and Robert P. Leandro and his wife, Sandra, of Swansea; his six grandchildren, Jocelyn Falvo, Marc Leandro, Elyse Gagne, Nicholas Leandro, Zachary Massey, and Alyson Massey; his four great-grandchildren, Lilliana Leandro, Alexandria Gagne, Ella Falvo, and Avery Falvo; three sisters, Barbara Lessard (late husband, Joseph) of Westport, Pauline Frates of Fall River, and Rosemarie Mendes and her husband, Edward, of Somerset; daughter-in-law, Michelle J. Leandro; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Michael G. Leandro.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, June 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in George's memory to: Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02904.
