George S. Oliveira, 79, formerly of Oak Grove Ave., passed away on November 26, 2009, after a long illness. Born in Fall River, son of the late Joseph S. and Georgelina (Lima) Oliveira. A Navy Veteran of the Korean War, he was a corrections officer at MCI Bridgewater for over 30 years. An avid sports fan, especially the Red Sox, George enjoyed spending the day at South Shore Beach in Little Compton. He was a member of the Lebanese American Veterans Assoc. and the Over the Hill Gang. Father of Richard G. Oliveira and Dawn L. Burke (husband-John); former husband of Louise (Daghir) Oliveira; grandfather of Matthew and Holly Burke; brother of Joseph Oliveira, Jr., Mary O'Connell and the late Elsie Felix. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in Holy Name Church. Pallbearers Michael O'Connell, John Oliveira, Mark Brown, and Rick Senerchia brought George to his final resting place at Notre Dame Cemetery.
