Gerald T. Carmody, 82, of Fall River, husband of Rita (Desrosiers) Carmody, passed away peacefully at St. Anne's Hospital on Friday, July 12, 2019. Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Botelho) Carmody. A Veteran of the United States Army, he proudly served our Country during the Korean Peacetime era. He was a quality control inspector for B.I.F. in Rhode Island for many years prior to his retirement. He loved cooking, especially clamboils, dancing, gardening, and country music, his favorites being the Mavericks and Conway Twitty. An avid sports fan, Gerald particularly enjoyed baseball, football, horseshoes, and bowling. An extremely kind and generous man, he would help anyone in need. Considered a "jack of all trades", he built an addition on his home and was also, in his younger days, knowledgeable and handy in auto repair. Besides his wife of sixty years, he leaves: his children, Jodi M. Kennedy and her husband, Kevin, of Westport, Sheila Howard, and Thomas G. Carmody and his wife, Rhonda, both of Fall River; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Norman, Tyler, Cole, and Caleb; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Evelyn Pillitteri and her companion, Larry, of Florida; his brother, Roger Carmody and his wife, Marie, of Florida; his sister-in-law, Ann Carmody, of Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Daniel Carmody. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, July 19th, in St. Theresa Church, Tiverton. He was buried with Military Honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. 8 PM.
