Obituary

Gerald 'Jerry' L. Correira, age 73, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the St. Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. A Somerset resident for many years, he was the husband of Patricia A. (Mello) Correira. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph Correira and the late Laura (Medeiros) Correira. Mr. Correira was employed at several businesses, most notably he was a supervisor at Balfour in Attleboro, MA, and was co-owner of the former Treasures Antique Shop in Fall River with Patricia, his wife of forty-six years. Jerry was well known for his expert knowledge in antiques and collectables. He also was a very efficient repairman and handy man. He was able to repair everything from large to small, and very adept at jewelry and watch repair. His keen skills earned him a "Mr. Fix-It" title from his friends and family. Always willing to give a helping hand, he was well respected as a volunteer in several local charities and organizations. He also enjoyed traveling with his devoted wife. Among their favorite destinations were Mexico, several states along the East Coast, and visiting with their son's family in the Midwest. Chante, Jerry and Pat's toy poodle, was always by their side and will miss "Daddy". Gerald was a loving and supportive husband to his wife Patricia, father to Mark A. Correira & wife Nicole, and grandfather of Dakota & Lucas, all of Alton, Illinois. He will be missed dearly... A Memorial Service was held on Friday, July 29, at the First Baptist Church, located at 228 North Main Street in Fall River.
