Obituary

Gerald "Bruce" Michael Silvia, 73, of Fall River, long-time companion of Jacqueline Hubbard, passed away at home on Saturday, April 8, 2023 following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Manuel F. Silvia and the late Evelyn (Rodrigues) Silvia.

Prior to his retirement he worked for the City of Fall River in the Public Works Division for many years. A United States Army Veteran, he proudly and bravely served his country during Vietnam receiving the Bronze Star for his heroism.  A very social and "happy-go-lucky" guy, he loved playing pool at the Bayview Club and, in his younger days, riding his Harley. But what Gerald enjoyed most was spending quality time with family and friends.

Besides his long-time companion, he leaves his loving sister, Linda Silvia of Fall River; his nieces and nephews, Melanie Travassos, Julie Boas, Bryan Croteau, Sheri Croteau, and Tracey Pavao; his great-niece, Christine Croteau; Jacqueline's daughter, Stacy Ironfield and her husband, Tim; and Jacqueline's grandchildren, Holly Ironfield and Madison Ironfield. He was also the brother of the late Richard Silvia.

His funeral arrangements were private.
