Germano M. Furtado, 71, husband of Ines (de Medeiros) Furtado, died Friday 7/14/17 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Lomba do Alcaide, Povoacao, St Michael, Azores, son of the late Angelo de Amaral Furtado and the late Maria Gilda (de Medeiros) Furtado, he served in Mozambique with the Portuguese Army.

He first emigrated to Fall River at age 25, working here for about 10 years (at Coppercraft, then at Robin Rug, of Bristol), moved back to the Azores for several years, then moved to Fall River permanently – working for many years at the Venus de Milo Restaurant, from which he retired in 2007. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and his dog, Chip.

Besides his wife, he leaves: a daughter, Anna Medeiros (husband Gualter Amarelo) of Fall River; a grandson, Phillip Medeiros; several nieces and nephews. Also brother of the late Francisco Furtado.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 18th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
