Obituary

Gil Lopes Correia, 72, of Fall River, husband of Filomena Oliveira and the late Maria V. Correia, passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio Lopes Correia and the late Maria (Cabral) Lopes Correia.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a machine operator at Swan Finishing for many years. He loved his truck, dining out, and going for rides to Cape Cod. Gil also enjoyed traveling, especially to the Azores. But most important to Gil was spending quality time with all his family.

Besides his wife, he leaves: his loving children, Ann Cordeiro and her husband, Carlos, of Westport, Joseph Luis Correia and his wife, Margaret, of Fall River, Michael Oliveira and his wife, Wendy, Peter Oliveira and his wife, Jennifer, and Richard Oliveira, all of New Bedford; his grandchildren, Samantha Correia, Joshua Correia, Kyle Cordeiro, Jordan Cordeiro, Noah Oliveira, and Leah Oliveira; sisters, Maria Lopes of New Bedford, Maria Gouveia and her husband, Aurelio, of Somerset, and Maria Viveiros and her husband, Manuel, of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel, Serafim, and Joao Lopes Correia.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, May 10th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his private committal at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Gil's memory to: Espirito Santo Church, Organ Fund, 311 Alden St., Fall River, MA 02721.
