Gil F. Freitas, 60, of Somerset, husband of Lydia (Coimbra) Freitas, died Thursday Feb. 12, 2009 at home after a brief illness. Born in St. Michael Azores, son of Ilda (Cabral) Freitas of Fall River and the late Gil Freitas, he emigrated to Fall River in 1965. Owner and operator of Gil Freitas Trucking of Somerset, Gil loved to travel. Besides his wife and mother, survivors include: children, Kellie Martino of Warwick RI, David Oliveira (& his wife Nancy)and Suzette Oliveira both of Somerset; grandchildren, Mason Martino and Nathan Oliveira; brother, Donald Freitas (his wife Joanne) of Fall River; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces & nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John of God Church. Committal service was held at Notre Cemetery.
