Gil Rodrigues, Jr., 85, of Fall River, husband of the late Florence (Lafleur) Rodrigues, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born in Fall River, son of the late Gil Rodrigues and the late Mary (Cabral) Rodrigues, he was a lifelong resident.

An entrepreneur in the garment industry, he owned a number of businesses, including Union Garment, Bridge Pants, Toggett Manufacturing, Cindy Sportswear, Bobby G, and several other manufacturing plants in the area. He had also served in the Army Reserve National Guard during the Korean Conflict. Gil enjoyed traveling to New Hampshire and occasional trips to Foxwoods.

His survivors include: four children, Douglas Rodrigues (wife Isabel Santos) of South Dartmouth, Gregory Rodrigues of Fall River, Frank Rodrigues (wife Heather) of Cranston, RI, and Suzanne Rodrigues of Fall River; three siblings, Mary Felix of Fall River, Adeline Aguiar of Tiverton, RI, and Joseph Rodrigues (wife Margaret) of New Bedford; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; and a longtime friend, Luis Oliveira. He was the father of the late Michael Rodrigues (wife Ruth is of Gaffney, SC) and Vincent Rodrigues; and a brother of the late Anne Teixeira, Julie Mello-DelToro, Cecilia Materia, Alice Bigelow, and Patricia Vaillancourt (husband Robert is of Tiverton, RI). Gil was also predeceased by two grandchildren.

Due to the Covid pandemic, his funeral and cremation arrangements were private.

When the current crisis has abated enough for large gatherings to again take place, Gil's family is planning to arrange for the offering of a Memorial Funeral Mass at Holy Name Church, to which extended family, friends and the public will be invited – and details will be announced here [ www.silvafaria.com ] at a later date.
