Obituary

Gil S. Nogueira, 76, of Fall River, husband of Maria Fatima (Furtado) Noguiera, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2025 in the comforts of his home following a brief illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Teixeira Nogueira and the late Maria da Gloria (Silva) Nogueira.

Prior to his retirement he was a Driver Instructor for St. Michael's Driving School for many years. He bravely and proudly served in the Portuguese Army in Angola during the late 1960's. An avid Sporting fan, he also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports activities, playing cards, dominos, and fishing. He enjoyed cruises with his wife and traveling to such places as Florida and back to his homeland in the Azores to visit family. Most notably, Gil was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather who truly loved his family and valued the time he spent with all of them.

Besides his loving wife of fifty-two years, he leaves his children, Michelle Nogueira Pais and her husband, Richard, Lori Ann Nogueira, and Jeff Nogueira and his wife, Juanita, all of Fall River; his seven grandchildren, William, Jia, Landyn, Arianna, Kyngston, Chace, and Phoenix; his first great-grandson who is "on the way"; his sister, Maria F. Pereira and her husband, Nuno, of Westport; brothers, Norberto Nogueira (late wife, Lucia), Joe Teixeira and his wife, Normanda, of Dartmouth, and Octavio Silva Teixeira and his wife, Maria Jose, of Agua Retorta, St. Michael; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Teixeira and the late Louis Nogueira.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 29th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by a private cremation.
