Fall River

Obituary

Gil F. Pereira, 74, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria L. (Felix) Pereira, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Calhetes, Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Jose Felix Pereira and the late Augusta (Tavares) Felix Pereira.

Prior to his retirement he was a machine operator at Priority Finishing for many years. He loved cooking and tending to his animals, especially his rabbits. But what was most important to Gil was spending quality time with his family. He had also served in the Portuguese Army.

He leaves: his three daughters, Gorete DeSilva and her husband, Constantino, Deborah Raposo and her husband, Mariano, and Michelle Pereira, all of Fall River; four grandchildren, Justin DeSilva, Bryanna DeSilva, Alexandria Raposo, and Adrianna Resendes; his great-grandson, Elliott Jack Sarmento, whom he adored; one sister; his brother, Jose Felix Pereira; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Maria da Trindade Felix Pereira, Emanuel Pereira, and Antonio Pereira.

Special thank you to: Southcoast Hospital Group, 5th floor, especially Brianna, Eurick, Kim, and Jackie, Southcoast Center for Cancer Care, Dr. Mark Shparber and Nursing Staff, Primacare Dr. Joseph Nakda and Dr. Ismal Ahmad from Charlton Memorial Hospital.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, June 4th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, followed by his private committal and entombment in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
