Gilbert Furtado, 80, of Somerset, husband of the late Dorothy (Estrella) Furtado, died Sunday 5/30/10 at Southpointe Rehab after a short illness. Born in Fall River, son of the late Thomas & Margaret (Souza) Furtado, he resided in Somerset for the past 25 years. Employed with the former J&J Corrugated Box Co., he was the private chauffeur for its president for over 40 years until his retirement in 1994. A longtime member of the Somerset Sportsmen's Club and the NRA, he was an avid gun collector. Survivors include: daughter, Tina Moniz (her husband – Steve) of Somerset; son, Gilbert Furtado, Jr of Somerset; grandchildren, David, Kelly, Brian & Daniel; several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews; a dog, Shelby, and 2 cats, Sandy & Kona. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Patrick Church, Somerset. He was laid to rest at Nathan Slade Cemetery.
